- WHAT IS GANG VIOLENCE? Gang violence is well known in New Zealand because we have on average
about 8 gangs who wonder the streets every day and get there own way and fight with people.

Our Background Questions Are:
-Why do people join gangs?
Maybe their family is in a gang and it only feels right for this person to join the gang.A lot of times when a kids family is messed up they end up spending more times on the strees and the gang becomes like their second family . maybe they only have a mum and shes got drug problems or is around or is on drugs. some kids suffer through home life with parents who are aways drunk on alchol and they dont really know their parents . so they meet older gang members that give them money and make them feel like a little boy. or they might not even have a family in the
u.s and the gang might be the closets family this person has theremare gang members who come from other countiers by thermsleves without thier family and they are on their own out here

- How do gangs effect us?
Gangs effect us because it getting to the point when no-one wants to walk alone at night.

-How do prison gangs effect our commuinty?
For one, the whole prison system is broken. It doesn't rehabilitate but rather house criminals. So when street gang members go in... they get introduce to a more stronger, organized prison gang... so they come out with new "skills" and a stronger gang mentality. As if they went to "college"... We need not only tougher sentencing but harsh time as well. Why do we spent more money on prison than on schools? Why do we spend more money on prisoners than our students? Some new prison facilities look more nicer and have more perks than some of our schools. Prisoners shouldn't have perks. In California, our jails are overcrowded. Our politicians rather build more prisons than offer social programs to keep them from repeating crimes.

-what are gangs Gangs are a group of people who social or do criminal things such as stealing cars taking alcohol using ileagle drugs vandalizing and violence.

BLACK POWER
Black power was formed in the late 1960s in whatane, and its membership
is primarily maori and pacific Islander.It has been involved with various kinds of crime, particulary drug dealing.Its symbol is the clenched
fist of the American Black power movement, and its colours are blue and black
